Students still need to do a website log each week. To avoid using the copier they will keep track on a piece of notebook paper to turn in on Mondays. They need to do 100 minutes each week, and have it signed by a parent.
As we approach the math STAAR we have a very packed schedule of things to get done. This is a stressful time for both students and teachers. Please make sure your child gets enough sleep each night. They will also have STAAR practice as homework, that must be done so we can go over it in class.
With so much to do we need students on their best behavior so we can get everything done. Thank you for your continued support. Extra Credit: Is available in the classroom for both math and science at all times. There is not a due date for the extra credit. Each page is worth 5 points. They may not turn in any extra credit the last week of the nine weeks.
Corrections: Students may correct any assignment for which they earned less than a 70. They must correct in red pen, and they must show how they got their new answer. It MUST be turned in the day after I return it to them. I will not accept corrected work later than one day after I pass it back. I do not have a limit on the amount of assignments they can correct, therefore, I strictly enforce the time limit on My classroom has run out of glue sticks. If you could send some with your child that would be very helpful.
We have also managed to run out of red pens. These would also be helpful to have more of. The expo markers are running low, more of those would be awesome. Thanks :) Science: Wednesday
Math: Thursday There will not be a review given. This is because teachers cannot see the test until the day we give it. Students should use their notebooks, and the curriculum websites to review concepts that have been taught. They will be a major grade in the grade book. They will not be able to be corrected. It is important that the students do well on these tests. Students need to wear a belt, and their ID badge everyday. They will start receiving DPS if they are missing these items.
Friday, September 27 is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 1:30. There will not be any after school activities.
Starting at 2:00PM, Ms. Zemler and I will be having mini-conferences with parents who signed up. If you haven't signed up and would like to be sure to send the note back with your student. We will email you confirmation of the time your conference will be. Starting September 30, I will no longer be using the homework packet method. I had been using it because I thought it would be easier for students to keep up with and turn in on time. However, several students are losing whole packets, which leads to a lot of new copies. It is also much harder to grade.
I will be sending math and science homework with the students nightly, due the next day. Students will be writing their homework in their agendas, and I will post it in the database and on this website. Please be sure that your child is doing their homework. Please check their homework to make sure they understood, and answered correctly. You shouldn't give your child the answers, but you should be helping them arrive at the correct answer. |
